Leslie Rader (Rains)

Marital status: Married
Children: 4
Comment: 50 years...What a journey! I have lived all of those years in the midwest. My husband and I have 3 sons and 1 daughter. We are now able to enjoy 7 grandchildren, ages 2 through 22. All of these important people live nearby, and we know we are fortunate, because in earlier years that was not the case. There were definitely some challenging years that made getting together tough. At this point we enjoy family activities, sporting events and traveling.

Beyond family, my life's work has been in the healthcare field, managing various areas in multi-doctor faciilities. Before I retired I was able to work for a group of amazing doctors in the area of natural healthcare. There I became passionate about all that can be done to heal the body naturally. I continue to pursue that interest.

See you in September!

Classmate deceased.

"Just moved from Northern Cal to Redondo Beach a few months ago and found out about the reunion, sorry I could not attend. Accepted a job with a Healthcare system as the CIO, which is the career path I have followed since the Army had me after HS. I do get to Colorado and New Mexico (lived there for many years) every few years and would like to touch base with those in the area. Have kids, grandkids and an 11 year old still at home. Keeps me hopping. Have fun everyone.

Unfortunately, the following note was received from Jeanne Ullstrom Cook (also WRHS classmate), on Sept. 7, 2007:

Thought you would like to add to the WRHS class of '66 website the sad news that Larry Raizen passed away in California on August 27, 2007.

Larry's obituary was in the Denver newspaper:  Larry, 59, of Redondo Beach, CA passed away August 27, after a short illness.  A memorial service will be held at Temple Micah, 2600 Leyden, Denver at 11 am on Sunday, September 26.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Heart Assocation.

Ayn Rand

Comment: This Russian immigrant to the US inspired classmates with her conservative writing, including novels The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. She argued for rational individualism in a classical liberal, capitalist society. She opposed the expanding welfare state with its stifling bureaucracy.

Comment:

Hard to capture the last 40 years in this small space isn't it?? My life has revolved around my

four children, and now...8 grandchildren!  I have worked for the past 30 years in the field of

healthcare automation, traveling all over the US and have just recently taken a job with the

University of Colorado Hospital managing all computer applications and coordinating the

move of the hospital to the new Fitzsimons Healthcare complex.  I am blessed with great

health, lots of energy, and a wonderful gaggle of grandchildren that will hopefully keep

me participating in rafting, golfing, biking, hiking, Disneyland, Dance lessons, baseball,

swingsets, WaterWorld and all the rest of the best of childhood.  Working on the reunion

has been a fantastic experience, and I am looking forward to seeing you all in September.

July 2016

So much the same...and so much has changed!  I am now retired from a 30 year career in healthcare informatics....one more life surprise for a college graduate with an English major! (who knew??)  I now have 13 grandchildren...all of whom live within a 20 minute drive from my home.

I can still say I am blessed with good health and lots of energy.  My husband and I are finally able to 'PLAY' again...now that those pesky work demands are a thing of the past.  We golf, travel, and love spending time at our cabin in the beautiful Colorado mountains.  We are very involved in our grandchildrens lives and activities...and that time is quickly moving by as well.  They range in age from 7 - 17 and keep us busy as spectators to all their activities.  Once again...working on the reunion has been a wonderful adventure...and having the chance to renew old friendships and re-establish new ones is the best part.

Hope to see so many of you at the upcoming 50th bash.
