Data update 2016 -

I'm still retired and keeping as busy as I want. I still practice yoga and I also attend Silver Sneakers classes at the local athletic club. My Kindle always has something new on it, but I really like holding a book to read, too. I still read recipes a lot, and try new ones often. I have a kitchen garden in the courtyard of our condo where I have grown tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, basil, thyme, rosemary, Italian parsley, and Romaine lettuce, as well as a few flowers. My husband made my raised garden beds for me.

My husband Mike did decide to retire in 2013. But, he also started a community orchestra (Chamber Orchestra Ogden) that he is growing. He is the president of the American Viola Society and will be attending the Viola Society international conference in Cremona, Italy, in October. It's a good thing we spent 3 weeks in Italy last year, or I might be upset about him attending without me. While in Italy we attended the World Expo in Milan, and visited the home town, Sparanise, of my husband's grandfather, Vitaliano Palumbo.

Our son Eric will be moving to Montrose, CO, soon where he has a coffee roastery and just opened his second coffee shop. He owns Cimarron Coffee Roasters & Books in Ridgway, CO.

Our daughter Allison completed her PhD in March, so now we have 2 Dr. Palumbos in the family. She and her husband just moved from Anchorage, AK, to Moses Lake, WA, where she will be teaching in the English department of Big Bend Community College.

I retired from my position at Weber State University (WSU) in March 2009.  Not that I had planned to retire then, but it seemed to be a good choice, since my position was being totally reorganized and minimized. I had worked sufficient total time at WSU to receive a special contract similar to early retirement, so I'm paid some not to work now.  I attend yoga and Pilates classes at WSU. I also enjoy reading and finding new recipes to try. My husband, Mike, is still Professor of viola and conductor at Weber. He hasn't decided if he will ever retire.  In the past 5 years, since the 40th reunion, we have traveled three times to mainland China:  once for four months to teach English at a technical college in Shanghai; to attend the Shanghai World Expo in 2010; and this past spring with the Weber State Chamber Orchestra for three concerts.  Our son took a sabbatical from his position in finance to move to Telluride, Colorado.  He has walked on the Colorado Trail, enjoyed some Telluride music and film festivals, and plans to ski at least 100 times during the upcoming ski season.  Our daughter is completing her coursework at the University of Kentucky in Lexington for a PhD in twentieth century American literature and gender studies. Classmate Deceased

Linus Pauling

Comment: It is an honor to represent science teachers and researchers who inspired members of the class and to salute class members who have made scientific and engineering contributions of their own. My work grew from quantum chemistry to gain a Nobel Prize for insights into molecular structure. At the same time I was concerned about political applications of science and organized against nuclear weapons for my second Nobel Prize - this time for Peace. My students at Oregon State, Cal Tech, and Stanford included WRHS alumni. Perhaps I demonstrated some fallibility (or quackery) when I went so far in my advocacy of Vitamin C for various ailments, but all the evidence may not be in...  -- Dr. Pauling

"Seems like I have spent the last year just slowing down from the rest of my life.  Slowing down is wonderful but it takes some adjustment too.  Having raised two great children, a daugher and a son, and I am about to become a grandmom for the first time. Commercial Real Estate has been my profession for the last 23 years which has been a very challenging and rewarding career.

I married my soulmate in February of this year and we live on acreage south of Castle Rock and are enjoying our more peaceful life outside of the city.  We both love to travel and explore.  We sail the Caribbean each winter in a small boat and have had wonderful adventures worldwide.

No complaints, life has been great.  No specific high school memories, just good ones overall.  Forty years has gone quickly!!!
