Deceased July 8, 2015 Hello Friends of my Mom (Candy Marsh Harwood)- I am sending this to you in hopes you can also pass it on to friends of my mom of whom I am unaware. My mom passed away the week of June 22, 2015 in her home in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. I had been in contact with my mom for a long time, but shamefully I had not seen her as much as I should have after I graduated from college and left the area in late 1992. I will always regret not being closer to my mom or the region but I did love her very much and she loved me and my brother, Tyler. My mom wanted to live for us but we all struggled on how to find a solution to the equations that her ailments presented to all of us. She had numerous physical problems that made treatment difficult. However, it’s important for me and you to know that although she struggled, she still carried with her the memories of a youth and young adulthood full of much cherished memories. My mom was born, grew up, lived almost all of her adult life (with the exception of a few years in college and her earliest years of marriage to my father), and died in the Wheat Ridge/Golden/Arvada area. However, she also managed to make some fun journeys in her lifetime that took her from Hawaii to Arizona (in the summertime no less because my mother LOVED hot weather), to North Carolina, to California and Mexico. She lived a full life and always had the fondest memories of her friends from her youth and the memories we generated as a family in the ‘70s and ‘80s. She always referred to her high school (Wheat Ridge) and college (Mesa) with great pride. She always talked of her friends from her lifetime with great fondness. She had a sharp mind and always carried with her the best memories of the years as a child, young adult, young mother and wife. She worked at the casinos in Blackhawk (in security much to the surprise of many)! She was forced to retire due to medical problems that she developed. She greeted many old class mates and friends with her bright smile and fun laughter when they would visit the casinos. When she passed away, I didn’t know what to do other than to move with driven purpose to have her placed with her cherished parents (my grandparents, Bill and Idris Marsh) who loved us so unconditionally. To that end, my mother is now at Crown Hill in Wheat Ridge in the mausoleum near the northeast corner of the property in crypt A318. A new plaque will be mounted soon with my mother’s name (Candy Marsh Harwood) along with my grandparents, William and Idris Marsh. In addition to me, she is survived by my brother, Tyler Harwood, and my uncle (her brother) Mike Marsh. I did make the decision to keep her internment a private matter because of the circumstances and I alone am accountable for that decision. However, that was not a conscious to exclude anyone. My mom loved each of her friends, and I know she would love to be visited if you are ever so inclined. Although I am sad about her passing, I am also relieved that she is no longer in pain which she endured for so long. She is now exactly whom she always wanted to be. Best regards, Todd Harwood Last data update 2015 |

Went to CSU and graduated in 1971 Off to the Army as a regular Infantry Officer - 82nd Airborne, 193 Infantry Bde (Panama Canal Zone), 7th Infantry Division (Fort Ord, CA) We're having a special veteran's get together a couple of hours before the main event on Saturday. All the alums are welcome to come to this time devoted to the veterans and the military spouses. Please join us at Abrusci's at 4:00 (1600), Saturday, 17 September. Veterans, send me a note. Tell me about your service. Married and brought home a Panamanian - Jeanette Jones (Yes, Jones!) Resigned and went back to graduate school at the University of Wyoming. Graduated there with a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology in 1981. Back to the Army as a psychologist in Texas. Stayed with the Army Reserve until retiring in '97 - lots of adventures. Since then we've lived and worked in New York (love that City!), San Antonio, and now Portland (love that city!) and it's near my 3 grand kids. I currently work for USAA. Something else the vets among us probably share. One son here and the other in Denver (LOVE that city!). It was tough to decide which place to semi-retire. Play lots of golf, go fly-fishing when I can. Thanks to the Army, titanium joints have ended my skiing, but we spend a lot of time roamimg around various mountains. Looking forward to the reunion. Let's all see what trouble we can get into one more time. Favorite HS memory? - graduation night Last data update: 2015 |
