Susie Darrow (Woodard)

Comment: Deceased:

Susie graduated from CSU with a major in political science and minor in accounting. Her sorority was Pi Beta Phi with classmates Susan Richardson and Judy Kifer DeCook. When the employment of her husband - Will - took them to Houston, she served with a city planning and development agency. They returned to Denver where Susie worked in accounting for a veterinarian hospital association and for an elevator firm.  She maintained interests in theater, concerts, and fun with her family. Susie was afflicted with multiple sclerosis and died from complications after many years of brave struggle. Her parents, husband Will, and two sons Jesse and Robert helped to sustain her admirably. Among many vibrant recollections offered at her memorial service, she was remembered for her ethical concern and beautiful smile. (Last data update: 2006)

Comment: Current bio:

In November 1966 I survived a car crash without seat belts that rolled at high speed and landed on the roof.  Walking away with a severe concusion, spinal injuries and whiplash I self  medicated until 1970 when I dropped out of CU.  By 1973 I couldn't turn my head, had arms that were chronically asleep and a body that ached all over.  I received the Rolf work, had a deja vu and cleared most of the aches and pains and got an inch and a half taller.  December 21,1973 found me in Colombia, S.A., awaiting an eclipse with a pistol in the back of my head and the opportunity to realize life is short and could end then and there.  I took a last breath and started praying my ass off, I got a reprieve and hitchhiked back to the USA in January 1974.   From that moment I restructured life to be of service to humanity, began meditating, went back to school graduating from ASC in 1975, became a Certified Rolfer in January 1977, completed Advanced training in 1985, became an Instructorin 1991 and taught for the Guild for Structural Integration nationally and internationally for 22 years.  I have since started my own school and continue teaching.

1977 also brought sweet Lorain Fox to fulfill my life; married 35 years I have 7 step-kids, 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchidren.  We lived 8 miles outside of Crestone, Colo., for 30 years and recently moved back to the Denver area for her health and to help my Mom.  I have an active private practice and a beautiful life.

I live in the Napa Valley in California, where I manage a small family-owned winery and raise my 14-year-old son (yes, he was a late-in-life blessing).  My mother, sister and brother still live in Denver, and I get home to see them every now and then. Though I can't attend the reunion, I hope you all have a wonderful time!

I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Bruce DeCook WRHS Class of '65 for 47 years.  We're both retired from careers in real estate, enjoying life and good health, and have been blessed with two wonderful children and two little grandsons.

After college degrees in California and Washington DC and living in California for the first years of her marriage, our daughter now lives in Denver with her husband and two little boys who we adore. . .ages one and three.  Bruce and I love being grandparents. . .Noni and Poppi as we are called.  After graduating from the University of San Diego, our son spent three years doing humanitarian work in Cape Town, South Africa.  He lives in Denver now, and in addition to his regular job, he does volunteer work serving the poor and underprivileged.

Bruce and I like to travel especially to Maui and to our beautiful Colorado mountains, spend lots of time with family, and exercise to try to stay in shape!

Many wonderful memories of high school. . .dating Bruce, of course, and Homecomings, sporting events, the KIMN top school contest and winning the Moonrackers/Astronauts dance at the Hilton Hotel, poster parties, teasing our hair, the great music of the 60's, and many good friends who I'm looking forward to seeing at our 50th reunion.  See you in September. . .
