Gail Hardesty
For you in this class who knew Gail Vaseen: FYI, this is what I posted on the sixth anniversary of her death on April 16, 2010: Remembering Gail on the sixth anniversary of her death. Remembering all the good that came out of that relationship. Fifteen years of extreme happiness with her in my life. Her connections with Colin and Kevin. The bonding she had with my Navajo family and how we all became so much closer. Our Navajo “wedding.” The 250 persons who honored her by coming to her memorial, including judges and staff members from 25 municipal courts. The 22 or so friends who cared enough to go to Gallup for the burial of her ashes in my Navajo family’s private cemetery. Giving those persons a chance to see what Gail had seen—a bit of Navajo life as it actually is in the traditional burial my uncle conducted and the reception/potluck/giveaway after the burial. The plaque honoring her at Foothills Animal Shelter. Every cloud has a silver lining. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. Live each day as fully as possible. She would have loved to have beeen able to come to the forthcoming reunion. Will Hardesty (WRHS, Class of '64)
