"The big news in my life is that I retired last December! For the past 16 years I was Vice President at ACT,Inc. (the testing company that publishes The ACT Test for college admissions). Since retiring I have been enrolled at the University of Iowa studying Italian. We have been to Italy twice and next year we are planning to live in Florence for a few months, so I am hoping to be functional in the language.

My husband, Sonny, is a physician and is planning to retire this December. We have four beautiful granddaughters. Our goal is to travel the world while we are still young enough to carry our bags up the stairs of old world inns.

I really wish I could be with everyone at the reunion. It is obvious that a great amount of work has gone into making it happen. Best wishes to all. La vita e bella! (Life is beautiful) Ciao!"

Comment: I graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in psychology in 1970.  I had ambitions to become a family therapist, but that never materialized.  At the end of my freshman year at CU, I met an Air Force Academy cadet on a blind date.  We finally married on the day after he graduated in 1971, at which point the Air Force started moving us all over the world.  We started out in California for one year, moved to Virginia for a year, followed by Thailand for a year, and then Fort Walton Beach in Florida for 2 years.  We lived in a trailer in Alamagordo for 2 months, and Homestead, Florida, for almost 1 year. We  eventually spent 8 years in Germany and 3 years in the Netherlands. (I guess I should have taken German instead of French!)  My husband, John, finally retired, and we have been living in Shiloh, Illinois ever since.

We have 2 children, Julie and Adam, and 3 grandchildren, who all live north of Chicago.  I worked for 16 years in the Financial Aid Office at Southwestern Illinois College, and retired in 2009.  We love to play golf, snow ski, bicycle, and travel.  Yes, we still love to travel!

My tiny almost-off-the-grid farm is

capable of being off the grid, but I

am still plugged into store bought electricity for the convenience of an automatic irrigation system which can buy me three weeks at a time to go off to work.  Right now I am working out of a camp in Nevada as a mineral exploration geologist (prospecting for gold and silver).  Life is good in the slow lane.  Should get even slower next year as I spend the year living the dream that is reaching fruition.  Maybe time will end in 2012 as some prophecies predict.  Living in the present, without time, is something I try to practice regularly.  We certainly got front row seats on interesting times. Developing close relationships with friends, family, food and water is incredibly rewarding.  I work with Sustainable Living Systems (.org) to spread the word.  Best health and happiness to all my classmates.
