"After graduation I attended the University of Denver. I also worked for and married Albert (Ed) Anderson, a Wheat Ridge attorney.  Ed incorporated the City of Wheat Ridge and subsequently was elected Mayor.  I was the First First Lady of Wheat Ridge at the age of 21.  We had three children; Sherri Lynn, Brian Edwin, and David Leigh.  Along with being a mom and wife, I worked in the Law Office of Ed in Wheat Ridge.

In 1990 I quit my job at the Law Office and opened a flower shop called A Floral SEA located at 2012 South University Boulevard across from the University of Denver.

In January of 2000, Ed died. I sold my flower shop in 2002 and retired.  I met Mick Schumacher.  We have been together for several years.  He is a CPA and travels for business.  He has property in several states and; therefore we travel much of the time, some for business and some just for pleasure. I have a house in Denver that I am selling at the end of August.

I am happy, healthy, and blessed with two grandchildren.  You could possibly see me anywhere at any time.  Life has had its tribulations, but mine has been very blessed."

Since we last convened at a reunion, I had the pleasure of witnessing the birth of my son’s daughter.  Being in the delivery room during a birth was never something on my bucket list, but it was indeed a highlight of my life to be there.  An event that usually only the father of the baby has the pleasure to enjoy.  She is 4 ½ now.  What a joy.
My business of administering after school tutoring programs came to an end in June of 2014.  I guess I am retired, but feel like I should be working.
Since our 40th reunion, it has been fun for me to attend lunches, dinners, play golf or go on outings with many of the women from our class.  I have enjoyed getting to know our classmates all over again and find that we have an amazing group of people that graduated with us.  Highlights for me have been a trip to Italy in 2007.  And a couple of trips with my life-long friend, Kathie Head Slaughter.  We have been to Yosemite and learned about climbers who scale El Capitan, we hiked the rain forest in the Olympic Peninsula, we have traipsed across Lake Tahoe and Colorado while geocaching.  I love the beauty of our country and National Parks and enjoy studying the history of our country.  I am always looking for my next quick trip to someplace beautiful in these our United States.
Favorite song lyrics to live by at this stage of life:  “Don’t try to change me or rearrange me…I am what I am and that’s all I ever can be.” The Turtles “Let Me Be”
Looking forward to seeing you all again.

(This is what I wrote clear back in 2006)
"Forty wonderful years of long road has brought me to the happiest and most peaceful time in my life.  It will be so much fun to meet up with all you again, but that forty years has also addled my brain.  When I look at the list of classmates, I say to myself, -Did I even go to this school? - Please tell me you all have the same thoughts.

I do remember poster parties on Tues. or Wed. nights.  What a great mid-week break.  And, every year we gathered to build the homecoming float at John Davis' house.  Our class never won the best.  The year we were seniors the juniors or sophomores (can't remember which) beat us out.  They did have a great float.  Most of all, I remember the after game "Barns".  Dancing with the guys was fun.  Still to this day I love dancing.  Look forward to kicking up my heels with my peeps from Wheat Ridge High School."

"Enjoying family.  We have 3 daughters, their families, which include 4 grandkids.
My wife, Peggy, is retired from teaching, still subs, but keeps me very busy with her horses and all the family activities.
I work for a national company that provides hardware and software for city, county, and state governments and I cover the state of CO.  This April I started my 21st year.
My name is John, I am a golf-aholic.
My favorite memories are when we would go to games and the barn dances.  Playing basketball in the back yard with the guys was always a favorite time as well."

I have managed to stay here in Denver, near the mountains. I have done mostly accounting and auditing, after getting a BS in business from CU. No wife, no children. I am hoping to see a lot of old friends at the reunion. Last data update: 2006

Deceased

July 8, 2015
Hello Friends of my Mom (Candy Marsh Harwood)-
I am sending this to you in hopes you can also pass it on to friends of my mom of whom I am unaware.
My mom passed away the week of June 22, 2015 in her home in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.  I had been in contact with my mom for a long time, but shamefully I had not seen her as much as I should have after I graduated from college and left the area in late 1992.  I will always regret not being closer to my mom or the region but I did love her very much and she loved me and my brother, Tyler.  My mom wanted to live for us but we all struggled on how to find a solution to the equations that her ailments presented to all of us.  She had numerous physical problems that made treatment difficult.
However, it’s important for me and you to know that although she struggled, she still carried with her the memories of a youth and young adulthood full of much cherished memories.  My mom was born, grew up, lived almost all of her adult life (with the exception of a few years in college and her earliest years of marriage to my father), and died in the Wheat Ridge/Golden/Arvada area.  However, she also managed to make some fun journeys in her lifetime that took her from Hawaii to Arizona (in the summertime no less because my mother LOVED hot weather), to North Carolina, to California and Mexico.  She lived a full life and always had the fondest memories of her friends from her youth and the memories we generated as a family in the ‘70s and ‘80s.  She always referred to her high school (Wheat Ridge) and college (Mesa) with great pride.  She always talked of her friends from her lifetime with great fondness.  She had a sharp mind and always carried with her the best memories of the years as a child, young adult, young mother and wife.
She worked at the casinos in Blackhawk (in security much to the surprise of many)!   She was forced to retire due to medical problems that she developed.  She greeted many old class mates and friends with her bright smile and fun laughter when they would visit the casinos.
When she passed away, I didn’t know what to do other than to move with driven purpose to have her placed with her cherished parents (my grandparents, Bill and Idris Marsh) who loved us so unconditionally. To that end, my mother is now at Crown Hill in Wheat Ridge in the mausoleum near the northeast corner of the property in crypt A318.  A new plaque will be mounted soon with my mother’s name (Candy Marsh Harwood) along with my grandparents, William and Idris Marsh.  In addition to me, she is survived by my brother, Tyler Harwood, and my uncle (her brother) Mike Marsh.
I did make the decision to keep her internment a private matter because of the circumstances and I alone am accountable for that decision.  However, that was not a conscious to exclude anyone.  My mom loved each of her friends, and I know she would love to be visited if you are ever so inclined.  Although I am sad about her passing, I am also relieved that she is no longer in pain which she endured for so long.  She is now exactly whom she always wanted to be.
Best regards,
Todd Harwood
